•Thematic considerations were discussed.  The positive aspects of the cultural exchange of ideas and interpretation, the relationship of the Ottoman dynasty, and the interpretation of the Kaftan were discussed.

•A strong desire to meet with Turkish designers was expressed.

•The concept of the interpretation of the Kaftan was approved as a theme by making/ finishing a Kaftan on site for exhibition as part of a one day workshop was discussed.  The Kaftans or costumes inspired by the Kaftan are to be informed by the influences of each member country.

•It was agreed that the majority of the workshop and meeting be held 3-4 days over a weekend due to the restraints of end of term for many of the members.  An excursion could extend the event to a maximum of seven (7 - 10) days.

Future Meetings beyond 2010

•2010/2011—Exhibition in Breda, Netherlands. Program Director:  Tina Matulessy.  Laura Crow will begin the communication process with Tina’s supervisor regarding the flat artwork and consideration of the costume designer as artist.  In order to tie directly to the area, Nic Ularu suggested development of a concept for the exhibition that renderings be based upon a classical painting important to the history of Breda.  Laura suggested that costume designs could be based in the 17th century, at the height of their Power, but from a modern view point.   This would expand the request for entries to include renderings done for Moliere plays, and broaden the potential base.   The working group could commit to finding a way to sketch the images from Breda’s 17th century past, based on historic paintings.
